OVERALL GUIDELINES
The Prime Minister’s Best Village Programme (PMBVTC) continues to provide a platform for promoting and preserving our heritage, our culture, our people, and our energy since the birth of our nation.
2024 marks the 61st anniversary of this esteemed competition. This year, we are excited to announce a lineup of engaging events, including the Clean and Beautify Competition, Handicraft Competition, Food and Folk Fair featuring the Menu of the Day, the papa Rabat Dance, Miss Food and Folk Fair, and the Petit Mamzelle Competition. Additionally, the Junior Best Village Camps will return during the July-August holidays, running parallel to our regular competitions such as Folk Presentations, Folk Theatre, and Miss La Reine Rive.
Our theme for this year is “The Future is Folk.” What does this signify, and how will we incorporate it into our array of activities? Essentially, it means that in 2024, our Best Village competitions, special events, workshops, collaborations, and outreach initiatives will prioritize the transmission of this legacy to the participating children. The Miss Petit Mamzelle and Miss Food and Folk Fair competitions will spotlight young women and girls aged 7-17, showcasing their talents in a manner similar to Miss La Reine Rive.
Within our Folk Presentations Competition, we’ve allocated three categories—Folk Song Medley, National Patriotic Dance, and Short Story—for children aged 13 and under. In Folk Theatre, we’ve introduced special awards for the best Child Actor, both male and female.
Our Junior Best Village Camps will cater to over 1000 children, offering two weeks of training in visual arts, music, dance, drama, and culinary arts.
The PMBVTC takes pride in providing opportunities within our competition framework to recognize and celebrate the participation and excellence of children under the age of 14.
