The #GirlsRunTT Challenge is a pillar of the MSCD’s Pink Reign Campaign.
The challenge seeks to encourage more women and girls to be physically active and increase their involvement and participation in sport.
In recognition of International Women’s Day 2022 (#IWD2022), the Ministry of Sport and Community Development (MSCD) will enroll and sponsor 400 women and girls across Trinidad and Tobago to participate in Bafasports’ Active Tobago 83-Mile Virtual Road Race Challenge https://bafasports.com/product/activetobago/ between the months of April and August 2022.
The challenge will take participants on a virtual journey celebrating the beauty and splendour of Tobago including Pigeon Point, the leatherback turtle, Goat racing, Brain Coral, Bird of Paradise, Crab, Glass bottom boat, Cocrico and Fort King George, one of Tobago’s most well-preserved historical sites whilst paying tribute to the late Lynette ‘Granny’ Luces, one of T&T’s most beloved long-distance runners. The MSCD is working with Bafasports Limited on this initiative.
Interested participants can register from 8 – 16 March 2022 at 4:00 pm by Register here. Applicants will also be asked to state in 25 words or less what they #choosetochallenge in recognition of International Women’s Day 2022. The MSCD will announce selected participants by March 29th, 2022 via its social media pages.
