MSCD endorses TTOC’s 100 day Olympics countdown

Today, the MSCD endorses the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee’s (TTOC’s) 100-day countdown to the world’s greatest sporting event, the Olympics Games. This edition of the Games will adopt a unique format in Tokyo, Japan. In addressing today’s virtual event hosted by the TTOC, the Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Community Development (MSCD), commended our athletes for their perseverance – “as we embrace this season of uncertainty, you (the athletes) kept focused and you continued training. Amidst unprecedented chaos and darkness, you looked to the light and kept hope alive. We are therefore excited to celebrate this 100 day countdown with you, as you ramp up your efforts and prepare to showcase your best performance on the world stage. “

Minister Cudjoe reaffirmed the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the TTOC’s commitment to stand firmly by our nation’s athletes, and to provide the relevant support on the journey to Tokyo 2021. She also thanked Mr. Brian Lewis, President of the TTOC and all team members for their hard sand support to the athletes and the wider sporting fraternity. She stated that these times allow us to show that we are “resilient and strong.” Minister then encouraged the athletes to train hard, do not be discouraged and to keep reaching for the stars.”
