Minister Cudjoe congratulates Dylan Carter on FINA World Swimming Championships win

Minister of Sport and Community Development, The Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe extends sincere congratulations to National Swimmer Dylan Carter on his recent success at the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships 2021, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The 25-year old copped silver in the Men’s 50-metre butterfly final. He also set new national records in the 50m and 100m butterfly respectively.  Among Carter’s many accomplishments, he won a bronze medal at the 2018 World Swimming Championships in the 50m butterfly in Hangzhou, China. He shattered two national records during the final schedule for Season 2020 of the International Swimming League in Budapest and has also won medals at the Youth Olympic Games, the World Junior Swimming Championships, the Pan American Games and the Commonwealth Games.

According to Minister Cudjoe, “Carter’s stellar performances and success at the championships were phenomenal. It is a testament of resilience, hard work and determination”.  “Despite challenges posed by the pandemic, our sportsmen and sportswomen continue to be committed and relentless in their pursuit of excellence. They have given us a national record breaking year in sport.  The Government of Trinidad and Tobago continues to make significant investments in supporting our athletes, developing our sporting infrastructure and improving our technical capacity.”
