BEST VILLAGE CALLS FOR ADJUDICATORS

April 24th, 2019

The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts’ (MCDCA) Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition is inviting knowledgeable persons with successful track records in folk and traditional arts to be part of its team of adjudicators for the 56th installment of the competition.

Adjudication has a major role in the overall success of the Best Village programme and this call is meant to broaden and strengthen the competition’s pool of expertise.  Judging in the arts is not only an evaluation of a performance but also the art of sensing possibility, encouraging nascent talent and building future interest in culture and the arts of Trinidad and Tobago.  As the longest running government funded programme, the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition is a community based arts programme intended to not only promote the nation’s culture, but to build heritage appreciation, foster community bonds and be a major incubator for this country’s finest creative talents.

For 2019, the best of Best Village will have the opportunity to participate in CARIFESTA XIV, the premier Caribbean Festival of the Arts, which takes place from August 16-25, 2019.

Selected adjudicators will undergo training prior to the start of the competition and will be expected to be part of the entire competition through the months of May to July, 2019.  Applications are now open for nationals of Trinidad and Tobago and the CARICOM community and close on Friday 26th April, 2019.
