REAPPOINTMENT OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE TRINIDAD BOXING BOARD OF CONTROL

Mr. David Roberts, Permanent Secretary (Ag.), Ministry of Sport and Community Development distributed Instruments of Appointment to members of the Board of Directors of the Trinidad Boxing Board of Control (TBBC) for a period of two (2) years with effect from October 6, 2024. Members were presented with their Instruments at a brief ceremony held at the Ministry’s headquarters on October 1, 2024.

On September 26, 2024 Cabinet agreed to the reappointment of the current members led by Attorney at Law, Dr. Barry Anthony Ishmael in accordance with Section (2) of the Boxing Control Act. Lending him support for another tenure will be Dr. Rochelle Mohammed, Mr. Terry Young, Mr. Christopher Brathwaite and Ms. Kwanieze John. Via a release from the Ministry dated September 27, 2024, the current term of the Board will expire on October 5, 2024 and retains full authority to approve boxing cards up until midnight of the same date.

Speaking at the brief ceremony on behalf of the Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis, Minister of Sport and Community Development, Mr. Roberts pledged the Ministry’s continued support to the Boxing Board. Also sharing some insight was newly reappointed Chairman Dr. Ishmael who expressed his thanks to the Ministry for all the support provided to the sport of boxing.

The Ministry of Sport and Community Development remains committed to the development of sport in Trinidad and Tobago while ensuring the necessary resources are in place to guarantee continued participation in the field of sport.
