The Ministry of Sport and Community Development joins the bodybuilding community in mourning the passing of a sporting icon, Mr. Lawrence Marshall.

Marshall played a pivotal role in transforming the local bodybuilding landscape. He was one of the first local bodybuilders to achieve pro status, was a former CAC bodybuilding champion and represented this country at the Mr. Olympia competiton.

Marshall was also a certified pro trainer of the International Federation of Bodybuilders and Fitness. He is responsible for harnessing and developing local bodybuilding talent, and will be remembered for his mentorship and passion for the sport.

The Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe reflects on Mr. Marshal’s impact on the sport of bodybuilding –  “Mr. Marshall had vested interest in representing this country in the international bodybuilding arena, as well as ensuring that there will be athletes following in his footsteps. His patriotism was evident in his support to rising athletes. In this moment of sadness, we celebrate his determination and nurturing attributes. Trinidad and Tobago is indeed blessed with exceptional sporting talent. We thank you for your drive and vision for bodybuilding. Rest well and we will ensure that your legacy continues. “
