Sod-turning Ceremony Techier Community Centre

Remarks Address

Presented by:

Dr. the Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly,

Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts

A pleasant good afternoon to you all.

It is a pleasure to be here in Techier today as we mark the start of what will be a new centre in Techier. As we look around, we appreciate that your old centre would have served you quite well and we know in the upcoming months the new centre will be much appreciated.

As we count down to the celebration of independence, this year we are celebrating 55 years of Independence, it is fitting that we do the sod-turning because one of the main things that was driving our late and first Prime Minister Dr. Eric Williams was community development, that was important part of what he saw as our national development and community centres are very key to community development.
