Sharing Traditions at the T&T Christmas Village

Entrepreneurs and Christmas shoppers…brace for a Christmas village that will blow your mind! From Sunday 15th December to Sunday 22nd December, 2019 the Queen’s Park Savannah will be home to the T&T Christmas Village. With over 150 booths and live entertainment from 2pm to 10pm daily, this will be the place for friends and family to shop, dine and lime.

The T&T Christmas Village is a collaboration between The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Spektakula Promotions and the National Parang Association.  The intent is to create a festival type atmosphere, promoting the performing arts and cultural diversity of Trinidad and Tobago’s Christmas. As the creative hub of the region, our festivals support cultural expression and entrepreneurship; and the Christmas Village will provide yet another opportunity for both.  Based on the execution of thematic villages throughout the year, we have proven that there is the potential to not only showcase local talent in different spheres, but also to present Trinidad and Tobago with an invaluable opportunity for domestic and regional tourism, while providing tangible economic returns for entrepreneurs.

This Christmas event is meant to provide a ‘one stop shop’ for all. Free entry and secured parking will allow patrons to comfortably ‘shop, dine and ‘lime’ with friends and family. Patrons can purchase Christmas gifts as well as a full range of food, personal and household items such as cosmetics, home furnishings, children’s toys, ponche de crème, cake, local sweets and wines, hand crafted jewelry, art, clothing and much more. There will also be a children’s zone with video games, bouncy castles and live entertainment.

The Christmas tree has become an integral part of our family and community Christmas traditions in Trinidad and Tobago. To celebrate this, a larger than life 20 ft local- themed Christmas tree, sponsored by First Citizens Bank, will create the heart of the Village. The art and culture of a Trinbago Christmas will take center stage and display the essence of Christmas through music and the spoken word. Whether they come to shop, indulge in the full range of local food on sale or just to sit back and enjoy the vibe of the Christmas Village, patrons will be treated to live local entertainment including parang, choirs, steel ensembles, the National Steel Symphony Orchestra, Jazz and more from 2pm to 10pm daily.

The Food Park will be one of the many highlights of the Christmas Village, where patrons can enjoy the full range of food and beverage associated with Trinbago’s culinary Christmas traditions.  Celebrity chefs will also be present to preside over food and beverage contests.

Since the official social medial launch of the Trinidad and Tobago Christmas Village on Friday, 1st November, 2019, the enthusiasm received from the public and entrepreneurs is unparalleled. An ‘early bird’ special has been offered on all packages for those who register for booths on or before Friday 22nd November. Packages available range from 30 sq. ft (shared space with one table) to 400 sq. ft. (20’ x 20’ tent).

So, hop on the ‘Sharing Traditions Express’ destined for the ultimate Christmas event this year – T&T Christmas Village. It will be a Trinbago Christmas Festival that will provide a one-stop shopping venue during the ‘most wonderful time of the year’.
