MCDCA temporarily closes all Performance Spaces Start of CEP and Best Village Postponed

As guided by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts (MCDCA) is taking all the necessary measures as it adopts a proactive approach to mitigate the risk associated with the spread of COVID-19.  The Ministry of Community Development, Culture and the Arts (MCDCA) has taken the following actions:

1) All performing spaces as well as the National Museum and Art Gallery, will be closed to the public with effect from 3pm, Friday March 13th to 11:59pm, Friday March 20th, 2020 in the first instance. These performing spaces include:

  • The National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA),
  • The Southern Academy for the Performing Arts (SAPA),
  • Queen’s Hall
  • The Naparima Bowl

2) All Community Centres, Regional Complexes and Civic Centres will be closed for the aforementioned period of one (1) week in the first instance.

3) The start of the Community Education Programme (CEP) and the Prime Minister’s Best Village Trophy Competition Season will be postponed until further notice.

4) The T&T Music Festival will be postponed with immediate effect.

These decisions have been taken as precautionary measures in light of recent developments with COVID-19 locally, regionally and internationally. The Ministry has also taken all advised precautions as they relate to its staff, and will continue to be guided by the Ministry of Health on further actions as we prioritize the safety of our staff, clients, communities and the public.
