Knowledge Building Support for NGBs

The pandemic has prompted shifts in the operations of many industries, including sport. The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT) has successfully pivoted, using the technology, to focus on education and development through a workshop series held for our primary stakeholders, the National Governing Bodies (NGBs).

In addition to this, invitations were sent to Community Based sporting organisations under the Ministry of Sport and Community Development. Overall attendance was high and the series was held every Thursday over four weeks in February to March with focus on the following topics:

– Governance and Compliance for Non-Profit Organizations
– Strategic Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation
– Budgeting and Revenue Generation
– Business Communication and Protocol

The NGBs were quite appreciative of this effort by SporTT. According to the Sport Development and Performance Unit’s Executive Manager Justin Latapy-George, “we are committed to working with them to improve their administrative and managerial capacity as this is the best way to upscale the performance of our coaches and athletes.

SporTT CEO Jason Williams added that “we take responsibility for our part in the growing of the industry and this kind of engagement serves that exact purpose while demonstrating our intention to be the premier provider of sport services to Trinidad and Tobago.”

The full series of presentations can be found on the SporTT YouTube page – SPORTTCO. SporTT will be hosting more Knowledge Workshops over the next few months to ensure that NGBs full utilize this downtime to improve their operations. The next such event will focus on coaches on March 24th, 2021 and is being done in collaboration with the UWI Faculty of Sports
