GORTT disburses over TT$900,000 in Grants

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago continues to recognize and value the importance of the sporting fraternity and community initiatives to post-pandemic recovery. On Thursday 10th February, a combination of National Governing Bodies, Sport Serving Bodies, Individuals and Community Groups were presented with grant funding at the Ministry of Sport and Community Development’s Head Office, Nicholas Tower, Independence Square, Port of Spain. A total of eighteen recipients received funding via the Ministry’s Elite Athlete Assistance Programme (EAAP), the Sport Grant for Organizations and Individuals and Community Action for Revival and Empowerment (CARE) grant to the tune of TT$947,805.00.

 

The Honourable Shamfa Cudjoe, Minister of Sport and Community Development assured all recipients that the Ministry is willing to support our athletes and to partner with all community organizations.  Minister Cudjoe called on Elite athletes to ensure that they meet the deadline for submission of applications which must be done within the first quarter of the year, from January to March.  She also reminded community groups that the submission of application must be done eight (8) weeks before their event or activity. Minister Cudjoe added that the Ministry is ready to partner and offer some support but also reminded persons that they must adhere to the funding procedures and communicate with the Ministry.
