Title: CHINNAMA FAMILY GARDEN: GIY CHALLENGE PHASE TWO - PROGRESS AFTER ONE MONTH
Category: Medium Kitchen Garden
Description: After one month, our family garden has had some progress and some setbacks. Insects began to attack and we took the advice of another gardener to spray the plants with soapy water to combat the insect problem. The soapy water was perhaps mixed a bit too strong and badly damaged our ochro, eggplant and pak choy plants. The ochro and eggplants are recovering from the ordeal nicely. All the pak choy were not so lucky and were completely destroyed so we have had to replant seedlings. It is a lesson in how delicate plants are and to avoid using products that can be damaging. We are now using a homemade garlic and onion spray to repel insects and we've planted thyme and basil among our crops for further pest control. It seems to be working so far and there have been fewer insects causing problems.
