Description: Welcome to the Chinnama Family Garden!
We've entered the Ministry of Sport and Community Development's GIY challenge to practice our gardening skills as well as to give our kids something exciting to participate in during this awful Covid-19 lockdown when they've been away from their school friends for so long. Gardening has been a way to keep them occupied and stimulated and they have grown to love it! They are always excited to experiment with planting (and eating) new things. So Camille & Atiba (parents) and sons Gabriel (12) and Josiah (11) welcome you to our humble family kitchen garden!
Crops for the competition are:
Short term:
Different types of lettuce, pak choy, chives, shadon beni, carrot greens and celery.
Long term:
Tomatoes, melongene, emerald and burgundy ochroes and sweet peppers.
We've also planted thyme and basil among our crops as they act as a natural pest repellent.
We are entering in the family garden and medium garden categories.
In this video we show our process of germinating seedlings and transplanting into grow-boxes.
