FAQ’s on the Community Education (Skills Training) Programme

1. What is the Community Education (Skills Training) Programme?

The Community Education Programme (CEP) provides training in various skills, towards the creation and the enhancement of home-based production of goods and services and employment generation. 1) Domestic Savings and 2) Entrepreneurship.

2. How are Courses being offered?

Courses are hosted in person and virtually. For virtual courses, participants are required to join using their devices at home/office via the virtual platform.

3. Who can participate?

Courses are available to Nationals and Legal residents of Trinidad and Tobago 16 years and over. PLEASE NOTE only persons 18 years and over can participate in the Mixology/Bartending course.

4. When is the CEP Programme offered?

Registration commences on the following days

Tuesday 2nd April and Wednesday 3rd April 2024 for the online classes.

Tuesday 2nd April to Friday 5th April 2024 for the face to face classes at all (9) Community Development District Offices

All classes begin the week of 8th April 2024.

5. How long is the programme?

The duration of the programme is 20 weeks (one day per week- for 3hours) – Level 1 classes, and 25 weeks one day per week- for 3hours) for Level 2 classes (April 8th – August 24th )

6. How many classes can I take?

You are allowed to register and participate in ONE (1) class.

7. Is there a cost attached to the programme?

Registration and participation are free of charge. However, participants are required to provide their own materials.

8. What courses are offered? Where will they take place? How can persons register?

We have Eighteen (18) Online and Ninety Five (95) in person Courses, ranging from Aromatherapy, Auto-mechanics to Up – cycle Craft. For the virtual courses, via the Ministry of Sport and Community Development website www.mscd.gov.tt and social media pages.

Once registrants are reviewed and approved, an email will be sent to the email address provided by the registrant.

9. Do participants receive a stipend?

The Community Education Programme does not offer a stipend at this time.

10. Upon Completion, do participants receive a certificate?

Yes. Participants having completed ALL the modules, assignments, and 75% participation would be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
